CLIMATE AND ENVIRONMENT ASSOCIATION NOR

ABOUT US

KMFNOR is a Norwegian environmental protection association that was founded in 2011. Through advertising and campaigns, the association will deal with the environmental aspect of the KOSAFA project, and make it internationally known. Renewable energy and reuse must be central. The project is being established and will consist of two production units – one for fish farming and one for greenhouse crops. Both facilities will be self-sufficient with renewable solar energy. On a global scale, the KOSAFA project will be considered a pilot project, targeting specific ESG norms, while on a local level it will be considered a giant commercial enterprise.

Keep all electricity for your own consumption – simple solutions for that.

THE KOSAFA PROJECT

The projected KOSAFA project in Malishevë, Kosovo will consist of the following facilities:  FISH FARM – AQUAPONICS – OXYGEN PRODUCTION UNIT – HYDROGEN FILLING STATION – ADJACENT SOLAR POWER PARKS WITH A TOTAL OUTPUT OF 200 MW. How green can large production units really be made with today’s available renewable technology? The KOSAFA project will be able to answer that – stay tuned!

Creating sustainability for everyone!

Kosova Salmon Farming AG J.S C. (KOSAFA), is registered in Malishevë, Kosovo: Acting general manager of the company is Besim Rexhepaj from Kosovo.

The company shall engage in the following activities:

– Land-based salmon farming facility (RAS) – 10,000 tons per year.
– Aquaponics greenhouse in joint operation with fish farming.
– On the facility’s industrial roof and adjacent land areas, 200 MW solar power parks will produce more than enough energy for own consumption. Surpluselectricity is sold to nearby businesses that wish to participate in “The Illyrian Green Shift”
– Own-produced oxygen, through electrolysis, where hydrogen becomes the by-product. The oxygen must be used in connection with fish farming.
– The hydrogen is stored and will, to a significant extent, be used for the production of night-time electricity.
– A hydrogen filling station is also planned as an integral part of the environmental project.

SOLAR PANELS

Large industrial roofs and nearby solar power parks will make the KOSAFA project more than enough self-sufficient with green energy, generated through different types of panel solutions.

GREEN

Aquaponics is a specialized, area-efficient form of greenhouse intended to function optimally in connection with fish farming. Dangerous fish waste is refined for reuse – as an excellent fertilizer product for the horticulture business. On the contrary– protein-rich plant residues are dried, ground up and added to the fish feed. More research is needed to further optimize the use of land – something KMFNOR wants to pass on knowledge about.

ENERGY & MORE

In connection with an upcoming large salmon farming facility in the Malishevë area of Kosovo, it is planned to develop solar power parks with a total output of 200 MW – which will generate up to 250,000,000 KW/h a year (250 GW/h). As this amount of energy is only produced during a few hours a day, large parts of it must therefore be transformed into a storage-friendly product such as e.g. to hydrogen. Because RAS fish farming requires a lot of oxygen, hydrogen can be seen as an attractive by-product – provided that water electrolysis is used for oxygen production.

FOOD

Food production is an important part of the overall processing industry which has great, international pressure on it to make its products as “energy-green” as possible – optimal is 60% from renewables, or more – 100% is unreachable!
